"but make sure you tune in or you'll miss out because these little nuggets will stream for ONE WEEK ONLY!"

Except of course that the entire show streams right here 24/7/365. Is there something special about the recording that Lemieux is streaming?

I haven't compared that above sbd to the one on dead.net, but I have heard stuff streamed on dead.net that is available here in better quality. So likely there is nothing special about the one Mr. Lemieux is streaming.

I agree, some of the dead.net streams are overly compressed as witnessed by many of this years 30 days of dead songs, particularly when compared to some of the early Tapers Section offerings from 2007/2008 but it's nice to get lil nuggets every now and then. Speaking of which;

However, there was indeed plenty of tight music played on 12/31/77 at Winterland. From the first set we have The Music Never Stopped, Tennessee Jed, Funiculi Funicula, Me and My Uncle, Loser, Jack Straw. Some of this show was released as part of the excellent bonus disc “New Year's Eves at Winterland” that accompanied the Closing Of Winterland DVD in 2003.

I checked my Closing Of Winterland DVD copy for the included 12/31/77 song selections and there was no mention of this inclusion in the liner notes. Any ideas?

It's mostly free music so i'll reserve judgement and keep all expectations in check.

Speaking of quality, I was enjoying part of your matrix this morning, nicely done!

Perhaps Mr. Lemieux enjoys the horns.

It's a damn fine musical suite, no doubt. Just wonderin why he makes it seem so exclusive. This week only!!

Perhaps they are special because, for one week only, you can hear how it actually sounded in concert as one continuous piece of music instead of 4 or 5 gappy tracks played back via Flash?

It's the performance that i'm keen on, i just love some of risks the Dead took musically shaking up the status quo, from Billy Ks drum solos in 1971, Garcia pedal steel on Looks Like Rain, Martin Fiero and Joe Ellis on LIG fall 1973, Phil & Ned Seastones, 1980 acoustic sets, Fall 1983 space, Garcia's midi during 1989-1990 etc. to name just a few. And yes, the recording audio quality is decent.
